Celebrating 15 Years in Business!
March 2003, Fifteen years ago my awesome wife Angela believed in me enough to let us take a 2nd mortgage out on our home to start a small restoration, remediation, and cleanup business based in Flagstaff. As a father of two, and never being overly confident, but having worked with several small businesses over the years, I knew I wanted to call my own shots. Never having owned a business, the risk alone was my biggest fear. I set out shortly after that with a ‘briefcase and A dream.” The next several years was an all out personal assault on Flagstaff and northern Arizona, to specific, strategic revenue streams of “Property Damage Restoration” everyone knew my name.
March 2018, fifteen years later, the book “The “E” Myth” and it’s data would suggest that less than 15% of all businesses started March of 03 are still in operation. Something I am very proud of, for I had no idea what I was doing. I only had a dream and overwhelming feeling that I would not let my wife, my kids and the rest of our family down.
I am a completely different person than I was back then. I made a ton of mistakes and would do everything differently, if I could do it all again. As would most people. I have learned that there is only one way to learn, and that is to fail. I learned that Good Business is a series of calculated risks, risks that happen on an almost daily basis. The risks were never fatal. Costly and Painful, but never fatal. And so, I learned! Two of the best decisions I have ever made with the business, were to leave the franchise I originally bought into, and the second was a co-decision to bring my lovely wife and her talents into the business. She is extremely talented, and we have grown closer than ever.
THANKS TO EVERYONE
I have hundreds of people to thank, but namely, my Father Tom, and my brother Mitch. My Master Mind group, Andrew, Jay and James that I meet with on a weekly basis for unconditional, moral and strategic support. Other Restoration Professionals that I have been able to lean on over the years such as Tom, Rob, Todd, Mike, Matt, Monty, Donnie and Dave. Specific awesome employees, former and current. Adam, Danny, Tim, Eric, Bo, Kellein, Evan and Jake, just to name a few.
From the heart, I am thankful for the relationships of every profession that I have fostered over the years, the face to face, one on ones, coffees, lunches, dinners, drinks, fishing trips, retreats, conventions, get togethers, the heart aches, laughs, tears, pain and joy. If you would have told me that some of my best friends would be in the insurance industry? I would have told you you’re nuts. Scott, Brent, Mike, Don, Beth, Tim, Noah, Steve, and Bill, just to name a few, a very few. NAU and the wonderful people at the University, who are behind the scenes and make sure the campus runs smoothly, which often means using our services. Several referral groups in town and Sedona, Steven, Dan, Brenda, Kelly, Eric, and Karen. Realtors, tons of realtor’s, too many too name and possibly upset. Property managers. HOA’s, commercial buildings, and organizations. My good friends and hunting buddies, Tom, Steve, Murray, Pablo and Eric. My kids Nick, Taylor and Isaac. My Mom Sharri, and in-laws, Jerry and Christine. The Catholic Churches, and NAU Newman Center, Father Pat, Anna, Father Matt, Angela and the rest.
Those are just a few, of the many, many people who have supported Angela, myself and our commitment to be the best Property Restoration service provider in Flagstaff and northern Arizona. We will continue to learn, earn, and develop the team to keep your confidence in us. We are blessed!
